What is GammaMAXX?

Hello, welcome to GammaMAXX, ˢᵘᵇʲᵉᶜᵗᶦᵛᵉˡʸ the best site on the Net!

This site is where I dump all of my random thoughts that never make it into everyday conversation in my life. This is mainly because people in my life are too normal for me, so the chance to say any of the things here doesn't usually come up.

I have big plans for this website, though it's hard saying if these will ever go into action. Until then, enjoy what this site does have to offer, and have fun!

ARCANOID: Two-player Pong for remote systems

After nearly a year from the time I initially conceived the idea, ARCANOID is now here!

ARCANOID is a clone of Pong for IBM PCs and compatibles, and what makes is special is that it's designed to run on two different machines from anywhere in the world, from two feet apart to half-way across the world, and it's able to do this over even the most primitive communications systems.

This is actually my first real program I have ever created: everything before was no more elaborate than 20 GOTO 10 on a VIC-20. I basically learned to program as I went about creating ARCANOID, so I'm pretty proud of this. It's also not very good at the time I'm writing this, so as of now the game is officially in its early alpha build stages. Don't worry, though, I'm already working on the problems I'm self-aware of and am ready to listen to anyone else who found something I missed. Buuuut, I am not a professional programmer, and I sure as hell don't get paid to do this, so I'm gauging my performance on fixing problems against Adobe. I think it's a fair comparison, don't you? :)

More information is available through the download page.

GammaMAXX.com is no longer brought to you by our sponsors

Let's be real here. Advertisers are basically the root of all evil on the internet. They know everything about you, and if you come to depend on them they will control your life for their gain and the ire of your fans. GammaMAXX.com has been enrolled in the Google AdSense program since 2018 and in that time the site has earned $1.54, of which I have been paid $0.00 of since you need to make $100.00 before your first payment.

This whole time I have paid for this website entirely out of pocket, and honestly as an adult with a job the price of keeping the server running ($131.88 per year) and the two domain names registered to that server ($36.90 combined per year), well... yeah. There is absolutely no reason to be selling your information when I gain absolutely nothing from it.

Besides that, I hate having to maintain that privacy policy. So with this farewell and fuck off to Google AdSense, I am also pleased to announce I'm dropping Google Analytics at this same time! I never did a single thing with it. When I started GammaMAXX.com I thought it would be neat to see where people are visiting from, but since I let in Google Analytics I have not visited my portal in pretty much ever. Besides that, whenever I would check my stats it would mostly be bots. I'm not even kidding, with an earlier precursor to GammaMAXX.com I was running in 2016, the most visitors I got all had their browser's native language set to "REDACTED.com You are invited! Enter only with this ticket URL. Copy it. Vote for Trump!". By most I mean 37.7% of all traffic I ever got during the site's existence.

GammaMAXX.com and all affliated outlets for GammaMAXX are now funded entirely out of pocket. But since I never got paid to be a member of Google AdSense, nothing has changed.

Something you could probably guess already

It's October, and you know what that means? It's the first homepage update of the year!

If you are a newcomer to the site you could probably guess this doesn't get updated very much. I pay to keep this website up "just in case" I need it for something, because there are plenty of times where paying nearly $400 a year for this domain and server has paid for itself. But most of the time the site itself just sits abandoned, and for good reason: I'm not much of a content creator. Everything I create for this website and/or the YouTube channel is created soley on a whim, like the last major video I made "The Yuppie of Montana" was concived during a manic episode, and created during the following manic episode a few weeks later.

Just in the past few hours I had one of those rare moments where I decided to make something for the website, which you can find HERE. And while I was at it, I decided to make this update for the homepage just to reduce any confusion a newcomer (Possibly yourself) might have upon finding this site. I'm not dead, I'm just lazy.

In the meantime, you can check out what little content exists here. Who knows, maybe someday I'll get on a content-creating roll and make a ton of stuff to see, but until then, this website exists as a canvas for potential content that probably won't get used very much.

Addendum to my previous post

Way back on Janurary 14 (Yes, only one day after the first post and I'm just now posting this) I got a text message. The message is as follows:

Straight Talk: This year, you'll need a new phone to continue enjoying the service you've come to depend on. Learn more: *LINK REDACED*

So at this point I don't know what to think.

Description to 2G flip phone video has been updated

This is actually being posted to the front page on January 13th, because I just now got around to doing it.

I have updated the description to "Internetting from a 2G flip phone" as it wasn't with the times. At the time of writing the original description I was under the understanding that Verizon Wireless was shutting down their 2G towers on December 31st, 2019. Apparently, this only applies to the 3G towers, and from what I can tell there are no plans to shutdown 2G service at this time.

So, the description has been updated to account for the 2G towers remaining in operation. That's all.

Ever wanted a review of a forty-year-old alarm clock?

Whether you wanted it or not, you can find an article I wrote about one HERE. You'd be suprised by how many features this aging clock has you don't see much of anymore.

Site renovations going on, will probably take a while

You may notice the banner at the top of the portal pages now has these weird lines on them. This is because I am working on a new logo that will be interactive on the site, but in it's current state it's unfinished. The problem is it's going to take a while as I got a job, which of course means less spare time on my hands.

EDIT 7/13/19: That project was abandoned. I'm keeping this post up as a record anyway :/

New year's update!

You heard that right, the first update of the year, only four months too late!

If anybody actually goes to this site you may have noticed that every update now gets posted to the Articles page, leaving the homepage pretty much abandoned at this point. But no matter, here's an update just to prove I still know how to edit this page!

I'm making this update because a have changed the upper banner sitewide, and I thought this would be a good place to leave this link, just as a reference for what the site looked like before. In case the site ever changes again you can find an image of the update here.

Something a bit more random

A new text has been published, and this is an odd one.

Rather than explain it here, I'm just going to let it speak for itself.

New text published, and this is an interesting one!

I'm working on creating an index of old Wayback Machine websites that have been mostly forgotten, and this is a unique one because you can participate in writing it too!

If you know of any Websites that belong in this directory, follow the instructions on the page to get it added.
